Concepts and Competencies

The learner will:

  • Capitalize the first word in a sentence and pronoun I
  • Recognize and use ending punctuation
  • Spell simple words phonetically

Supportive Practices

The adult will:

  • Model using grade-appropriate conventions
  • Model using grade-appropriate proof reading skills
  • Provide frequent opportunities for writing and dictating stories
  • Provide opportunities to engage in shared, interactive, and independent writing
